The basics of choosing colors
- Determine what dominate colors will remain in
the space after the painting project is complete. On an exterior this could be the brick,
stone, or roof. For an interior it could
be the flooring, décor, or adjacent rooms.
- Conclude what kind of feeling you desire to have
in the room or on the home. Cool colors
give a serene feeling and can add spaciousness to small places. Warm colors on the other hand can create an
energizing mood or add a pleasant intimacy to large spaces.
- Make sure to consider the balance between
light colors and deep colors. Choosing a color scheme and how complex you wish
it to be. The three main color schemes
to choose from are Monochromatic, Analogous, and Complementary.
